Journey to the Past:
Bridging East to West
BROOKLINE EDUCATION FOUNDATION GRant - 2013 - Project summary
The project focused on researching and compiling resources pertaining to the lesser-known history of the Asian American immigration experience on the West Coast during the first half of the 20th century. We took a private guided tour of the Angel Island Immigration Station and Museum, visited and interviewed scholars in the field of Asian American Studies at the Chinese Historical Society of America in San Francisco and reviewed primary source documents at the National Archives in San Francisco. The experiences and resources that we have gained will be used to inform and enrich our curriculum within our ELL department, as well as enhance the resources available to teachers and students in the district who regularly utilize the school libraries for research purposes.
